State and virtual National Championships 2021

Updated: Jun 18, 2022

We were happy to compete at the State Championships in a face-to-face environment after numerous lockdowns in Melbourne.

We had swimmers in almost all the age groups competing at a State Championships for the first time. We are very proud of all our new and returning swimmers.

Most of the routines we competed were repeats of our 2020 season routines, but we had a few new solos and duets. It was great to see all the clubs come together and demonstrate the level of perseverance and determination of Victorian artistic swimmers.

Unfortunately, our planned filming weekend for the virtual National Championships was cancelled, after being delayed once, due to lockdowns. But as expected of our tight-knit community, we were able to pull off a last-minute filming at the pool during regular training hours and film most of our club's routines. It was a long evening (we only finished at 9pm!), but we are grateful to Aquanation for allowing us to use the dive pool at the last minute. Thank you to all the parents and volunteers at our club for doing last minute hair and make-up, and dropping plans and changing things to get to the pool in time.

All our club's members have learned how to be flexible to meet new challenges, keep their motivation in tough times, and appreciate the time we do get together.

We have now been out of the pool again for many months, but as soon as we can, we will be back and hope to see you there too.

Our club was 4th overall in the Club Championships awards for the National Championships which is just amazing! We had our biggest team ever at a National Championships, and this is thanks to our volunteers and coaches for staying positive and believing that even with a staggered training season, we could achieve big things. Our club is being sent medals for all swimmers who placed in the top three at National Championships.
